What is Actimel?
Actimel is a delicious probiotic drinking yogurt. It contains billions of the exclusive L.casei cultures and is scientifically proven to help strengthen the body’s natural defences*. Danone Actimel is available in 14 delicious varieties and also comes in a fat free range that has less than 30 calories per bottle.
Actimel is suitable for most people among the general healthy population - and that includes children over 3 years and older people.
What is L.casei?
Actimel contains two traditional yogurt cultures: Lactobacillus bulgaricus and Streptococcus thermophilus. It also contains a third culture, an exclusive probiotic L. casei culture ** that has been selected by Danone from 3,000 ferments for its probiotic characteristics. Danone have trademarked it, which means that it is exclusive to Danone.
Actimel has been studied by Danone's international research centre for its beneficial effect on health* for more than 15 years.
The exclusive L.casei cultures in Actimel are more resistant to stomach acids than some other cultures and are therefore able to reach the intestine in high concentrations. It is important that the L.casei bacteria reach the gut alive and active because this is where about 70% of the immune system is located. There are billions of L.casei cultures in each bottle.
